Mark is a professional actor, (SAG-AFTRA, AEA) director, dialect coach, stage combat choreographer, published playwright, teacher and administrator. As an actor, he specialized in the great Shakespearean clowns at regional theaters nationwide. He’s played Dogberry, Grumio, Tranio, and Touchstone among others. He's played hapless peoples in several cheesy TV movies and independent films. His voice-over work includes audiobooks (one of which boasts over 100 characters), and campaigns for Burger King, Verizon, Peerless Faucets, Culligan Water, and McDonalds.
Mark's screenplay, The Girl Who Shot Digger Dean, was a semifinalist in Creative Screenwriting Magazine's 2023 Unique Voices Competition. Mackenzie Phelps, his comic noir podcast with a modern feminist twist, advanced to the second round of the Austin Film Festival. He is currently the Coordinator of the Academic Support Services Center at Hudson County Community College. where he tutors students in writing and English. He also coaches dialects, choreographs stage combat, narrates audiobooks and does commercial voice-over.
Mark has an MFA in Acting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, a BFA in Theater from The University of Toledo, and certified as a stage-combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors.
